Previous football player for the University of Georgia, Akhil Crumpton, was captured in his old neighborhood Wednesday for a March 2021 killing in Georgia.

Elijah Wood, 23, was filling in as a representative at a Watkinsville corner store when he was lethally shot.

A FBI group and a SWAT group captured Crumpton in West Philadelphia Wednesday morning. He is being held in Philadelphia in association with the Georgia case.

“We as a whole realize this capture won’t bring Elijah back, however we trust his family, companions, and this local area can now start the mending system,” said Oconee County Sheriff James A. Solidness Jr.
